Changing Nature of Work

The Internet is an essential part of our lives which most of us use every day.  Without the Internet the lives of school students and workers would be alot harder as we would less resources and search engines to get information from. The Internet is the best resource to get information from as it contains dictionaries and encyclopaedias.

The Internet has billions of websites which are jam-packed with loads of information.  It makes our lives so much simpler as we can type our work into Microsoft word instead of having to handwrite every single word. Parents with babies/children also benefit greatly from the internet as they don’t have to take a day off/leave their job to look after their children, they can work at home which saves them alot of time and stress. Mycareer and Seek are websites which make finding a job so much easier than searching through a newspaper; these websites can be used by anyone with basic Internet skills. All you have to do is type in what kind of job you are looking for and hundreds of jobs will appear. As mentioned above, the Internet also contains dictionaries and encyclopaedias such as Wikipedia and encyclopaedia Britannica, these websites make getting information alot easier for workers and students. These websites mostly give updated information unlike some books which could possibly contain information from 20 years ago. Resources now are so much simpler than they were 20 years ago because Australia’s technology is getting better and better. The Internet definitely does help develop the minds of young children as it makes doing homework alot easier and children will actually want to do their homework.  Google and Yahoo are 2 popular websites that are known as “search engines”. Basically, all you have to do is type in the keywords of what you are looking at and it will show you all the information you need. Because of the internet, being absent from work or school is no longer a problem. If you can’t go to work or school all you have to do is send an email to one of your group members containing all the work you have done.

The Internet does help develop the minds of young people as it makes their lives so much more simple and they would actually be influenced to do their homework because getting answers to your questions is easily accessed from the internet.

School Violence

School Violence

School violence can range from many things such as fighting, verbal abuse and bullying.

It is a serious problem that mostly occurs in public schools where more than 25% of the teachers are young and have less than 5 years of experience. Violence in school is usually between 2 students who are trying to look tough in front of their friends. Some schools that have badly been effected by school violence have been forced to take drastic measures such as hiring school security guards and having to purchase video cameras for each classroom to try and help prevent school fights from occurring and being posted on the Internet for the whole world to see.

We have lately seen school violence in the news which involved the bashing of staff and students of Merrylands High. Some videos of this incident have already been posted onto the internet by some of the students in Merrylands High. A popular video website is YouTube; it hosts millions of videos for just about anything you can think of. By simply typing “school fights” into YouTube you are shown over 20,000 videos of school fights. This is setting a bad example to teenagers and is influencing school fights to occur mainly so they can put it onto YouTube. By watching these video’s students are influenced to believe that being in a fight makes you cool and tough. Another point of interest is that it is not only students that are posting videos of fights into YouTube. If you simply type “fights” into YouTube you are shown over 1,700,000 videos of people other than high school students being involved in a punch-up. A perfect example of a website which sets a bad example to today’s teens is www.schoolfightsdump.com.  It is a website which shows the brutal bashing of many young school students.

The internet is definitely a negative in showing a good example to school students and people around the world and is doing nothing but destroying the minds of young people by influencing them to start school fights and cause harm to either themselves or other students who have done nothing wrong. If nothing is done to counter this problem, we will be living in a generation full of trouble makers.

Watch the following clip on Maximillian Kolbe:

1.) Define the term ‘moral integrity’

Moral integrity is the descission you make in different situations. It reflects in your actions showing if you do the right thing or make a bad descission by doing something negative.

2.) Describe why Maximillian Kolbe is regarded as a Christian of exemplary moral integrity.

Maximillian Kolbe was reguarded as a christian of exemplary moral integrity because of all the positive decisions he made. Maximilian Kolbe always made the right decisions and put other peoples needs before himself.

3.) Outline Maximillians ethical actions/principles that he demonstrated in Auschwitz.

Maximillian Kolbe had done many things for the people around him which made him such a great person. one of the most notable actions he done was to die for a man that he didn’t know well because that man had a wife and kids, this showed that Maximillian was not selfish and definitely put others people’s needs before his own.

4.) Evaluate whether you think he made the right decision and provide research to support your answer. i.e. Catholic teachings.
Maximillian  definitely did the right thing by dying for a man he wasn’t related to because it showed the rest of the prisoners not to be selfish. a classic and most important example of what Maximillian had done is very similar to what Jesus Christ had done to save all of us.

Scenario 1: You are on a train coming home from a day at the beach. The train stops at a station and a group a youths get on the train and start bashing an elderly ethnic man. You notice people getting off the train.

Discuss what you would do in this situation.

In this situation i would probably call the police and paramedics to come to the location asap. I would probably not get into the fight as their is many of them and i would probably get severely injured.

Scenario 2: You get a message from a girl that you are interested asking you to come over her house. When you get there a number of her friends are present and they say they are bored. One of them promotes the idea of going for a walk and causing a riot. At first you tell them “No way”. However, the girl you like states that “she will like you more if you go”.

Discuss what you would do in this situation.

I would definitely not go because i would not want to hurt other people or possibly get bashed by other people, and i know by doing this i would probably go to jail depending on how much harm i have caused to other people. I would also try and convince  her friends not to go and briefly explain why not to go and what the consequences are if they do cause a riot.
