The Rabbits

 BriefCase 21

Vectors/Reading Paths

The double page spread that struck me the most was  an image with rabbits pointing at the land they were soon to invade and take away from the wombats.

 Symbols/Motifs

One of the DPS’s shows a giant statue of a rabbit which tells us that the rabbits (brittish settlers) have now taken over the land. On that same DPS it shows a large ammount of rabbits standing in the background which lets us know that they are now in control of the land. The colours are very dull which expresses the pain and sorrow that the wobats (Aboriginals) had to go through.

BriefCase 23

Informational value

The informational value that I gained from reading the rabbits is how poorly the aboriginals were treated just because of their colour, and how the brittish invaded the land and unfairly took the land away from the aboriginals.

Scalience/Framing

A frame on the bottom left side of the DPS is used to seperate an image from the rest of the page, it is very noticable as it has been majourly seperated from the rest of the page.

Reading and Undersrtanding – The rabbits

1. Discuss what the meaning of the book is

In this book the rabbits  represent the brittish. The rabbits looked scary which showed that the aboriginals were scared of the brittish. The book shows how poorly the aboriginals were treated by the Brittish and how the Brittish took their land from them and also took the aboriginal children from their families.

 Whats the message?

The ,essage is not to treat people unfairly because of their colour or race.

2. Make a list of some visual techniques that you think help create these meanings.

The pictures showed that the aboriginals did not have any food or shelter and they represented this by using dark and dull colours.

4. Discuss what you think colours represent in this book.

The dull colours in this book represented how sad they were when there children were taken away from them.

are you satisfied with the groups so far?

Yes, I am satisfied with the group because we all do our work without any arguments and we share the work around equally.  We are also doing our work on time so we wont hand in the project  late.

Who is not pulling their weight?

Everyone in my group is sharing the work around equally and no one is slacking off.
